yesterday we went over the pacific front...

now zach is doing something... i guess he didnt finish his pacific front presentation.

hiroshima.. attacked on august 6 1945. killed 90000-166000, people died from bomb and from radiation stuff. they knew an attack was coming but it was too late to evacutate. our only other option other that dropping the atomic bomb was to invade.. nuclear warefare was used to invade hiroshima.

doctirnes.. roosevelt's doctrine stated that the unrestricted submarine warefare was okay on japan.

commerce rating... the use of naval forces to destroy the supply lines of an enemy on the open sea rather that engaging the combatants themselves or enforcing a blockade against them

major battles.. midway, coral sea, iwo jima, guadall canal, phillipines

island hopping.. led by general mccarther island hopping is crossing an ocern by a series of shorter journeys between islands, as opposed to a single journey directly across the ocean to the destination. you wanna capture key bombers within american bombers.

spying gamee...

crytography.. the practive and study of hiding informationn, used in wwii to pass messages to another country. codenames.. ultra, magic, bombe, purple

magic

was an allied machine and was a project directed torwards japan to break their diplomatic codes this allowed allied policy makers to read their diplomatic messages.

purple

was a japanese machine, would take a message to teansfer a code, the receiving maching could translate the code only under certain settings

bombe

was a british machine that tried to decode german messages. different rotors and motors and cords and its really really funky looking ..

enigma

was invanted by a german engineer arthus scherbius.. british and american code breakers were able to break a large number of codes it was like a typewriter you typed the message and then it would turn into a code

purple was the japanese equivalent to enigma.. magic intercepted purple

navajo code talkers

natice americans who served in the us marine corps. their main job was to "decode secret mesvages" but basically they were just speaking their native language... it could have been easily broken if anyone else knew the language but it was such a like not known language

klaus fuchs... gave the soviet union information from the us and britain.. information about an atomic bomb 1943- sen to us to help develop the atomic bomb 1945- was claimed he was involved with a spy ring that shared information
