The African Front.

The US didn't get involved until 1941. we began assisting them until a year later.

The war at the african front started in 1940. tanks were used alot then becasue of the sand.

June 10- the fighting in norht africa started wit the italian declaration of war.

Tunisian campain started in 1942 and ended in 1943

THe allied powers came out successful in the African Campaign.

The Italian and Mediterranian Fronts

THe Mediterranean Front

encompasses naval, land, and air campaigns fought between the allied and Axis forces in the Mediterranean Basin

Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt started it to relieve pressure from the Soviets

argued the at thye should go through Italy into Germany

Later, an Italy front was formed

Italian Front

the allies advanced towards Rome whihch was blocked by Kesselring's Gustav Line

Allies landed 50000 seaborne troops at Anzio, 33 mi south of Ron on Jan22, 1944.

Allied invasion of Italy

chuchill often callled Italy the "soft underbelly of teh axis"
