Monday- Took test

Tuesday- Finished test

Wednesday -Discussion of communism(owned privately by people) and Democracy(freedom voting) : political systems

socialism vs. capitalism(people own private stuff)

positives for capitalism: competition not government control and drive prices down, the harder you work the better off you'll be. bettering your opportunities. makes people work hard

Negatives for capitalism: that they worked hard well some and that what you make might not be a lot of money,

communism: Carl marks German writes a book about communism about equality, he hated capitalism, said it was unjust, sounds "perfect" too overthrow classes and become one almost impossible

U.S is a mixture but leaning more to capitalism

Socialism: government control businesses anytime government provides they are consider socialism.

weakness: consent of busting your tail but its equaled^^

capitalism you aren't given anything and socialism you are but you wouldn't be able to raise high above unless you know someone most likely.

soviet union:

Bolshevik Revolution-

lenin- sent him back to russia to start the revolution, first leader true mas-curs turn power to people

stalin- killing people he didn't trust, took control of businesses

-purges

-collectivization

-Nationalization

- five year plans

-soviet- German non- aggression pact: pledge to not fight and trade with each other and Germany invaded them and soviet union held them off and pushed them back to Berlin.

-war with Germany

  • Battle of Berlin April-may, 1945

Why did this war happen the war of strategies the war of political thoughts

-US is based on democracy, capitalism and freedom

-USSR is based on dictatorship communism and control

  • the red scare-1919 - caused a lot of people didn't want to be labeled as a communist, the fear of being communist. (we limited people coming in and raded people and took a lot of peoples rights away.
  • both thought their system was better an distrusted the others
  • Stalin hated capitalism
  • Distrust during ww2 - allies (friend enemy's) we didn't mind them weakening themselves after war we realized that soviet union would be a big problem
  • and that soviet union would take it all over )(France)
  • took over half of Europe._Stalin

Stalin made a deal with Hitler so how would we trust him.

Cold war

Stalin breaking his promises to allow free elections at the Yalta conference and he didn't and he took the countries over

what drove it: that war between US and USSR would be a nuclear war

Wer were the only one that had the atomic bomb so we used it to advantage and Stalin thought we were putting it over his head.

that's all he could think about because they need to get the bomb so that drove the war and they got the bomb and it got bigger started having a nuclear race of making bombs.

we could never use the bombs because everyone would die they were just a defense thing. so people wouldn't mess with us.

Germany/Berlin the starting of the cold war was the ending of ww2

only country that has troops literally every where in the world.

US goal is to spread democracy around the world.

Yalta conference

-cold war starting here

-Stalin promised to join the war of japan.

The "west"- US, Europe western nations or powers ; western European powers united states= super power

The "East" eastern Europe lead by the super power soviet union
