The West responded by airlifting in the necessary supplies to allow west Berlin to survive.
In May 1949, Russia admitted defeat and lifted the blockade.

Causes of the Second Red Scare: Julius and Ethel Rosenberg Trial. Found guilty of spying for the Soviets-executed in 1953. Also the Iron curtain surrounding Eastern Europe. The USSR detonating their atomic bombs. China becoming communist in 1949. Soviets detonated atomic bomb. The Korean War starting in 1950-Domino Effect. Also, Stalin's actions in Germany-Berlin Blockade.
Smith Act (Alien Registration Act) - Made it illegal to advocate the overthrow of the U.S government. Required all non-citizens adult residents to register with the government.

Bay of Pigs:
Invasion of the Bay of Pigs. Fidel Castro was leader of Cuba until 2011. Invasion by Anti-Castro Cubans. The CIA got a hold of the anti-Castro's, and trained them. They were the ones that went in and overthrew Castro. (What was supposed to happen) Actually went horrible. Castro found out, and so they got ready for the invasion. The anti-Castro's were captured and/or killed.
