semester test questions:
1. impact the Great Depression and New Deal had on the US.
2. causes, effects and major events of WWII.
3. how/why the Allies won WWII.
4. causes, effects and major events of the Cold War.
5. causes, effects and major events of the Korean Conflict.
6. causes, effects and major events of the Vietnam Conflict.
7. causes and effects of the Persian Gulf Wars as well as the War on Terror.
8. major economic, political, and social changes made during the 1950's, 1960's, 1970's, 1980's, 1990's and 2000's.
THE U.S. HOMEFRONT
- what the people did back home to help support the war
- by women going into the workforce, it changed the way they were looked at
- after the war, women were forced back to their housework because the men wanted their jobs back
- a rationing system began.. made sure everyone got their fair share
- ration books were issued.... coupons
- first item rationed'';;][tires
- japan seized the rubber plantations in the Pacific West where 90% of the U.S. rubber was made
- price controls
- propaganda--they should do what is right;rationing; cartoons
- war bonds--financed the military
