If one were to watch the news, to flip on any channel, whether it be FOX, CNN, or MSNBC, one would certainly hear the phrase Al-Qaeda. To some, this would be a meaningless and over used term, whose purpose has been lost or never understood, or it would strike a deeply fed hate or fear into one's heart. People talk about it to their peers, their family members, and while some understand, some are left behind, confused or misinformed. Therefore, the purpose of this following blog will be to inform those that may not know, exactly what Al-Qaeda is, and what it means for the world today.
Noted to have begun in 1988, with a meeting between the senior leaders of Egyption Islamic Jihad, Abdullah Azzam, and Osama bin Ladan, Al- Qaeda has been a source of pain, death, and unnessisary radical movements. Most memorable in the hearts of the American people, is the atacks on September 11th, 2001. These attacks, the loss of innocent lives, outraged and continues to infuriate the nation. It broke the hearts of our strongest, and drove the most firm in emotion to cry like small children. It was a horrible experiance for us all, and here our hatred was born.Shortly after the attacks upon our innocents and our nation, the United Stated Government, under the Bush Administration launched into the War on Terrorism. This has resulted in the capturing of thousands of people, linked to the Al-Qaeda network. Death in Afganistan has removed thousands more. Here, I would like to interject, and rant yet again about the state of us as a humanity. Why is it that we cannot be content within ourselves and the nations we call home? Why is it that we can't be civil and kind to one another, or at the very least, use our brains and hearts to solve our problems, instead of our weapons? If we could all just grow up, stop acting like bullies on a playground, life would be so much easier! All the pain experianced on 9-11 would be nonexistant. All the orphans and widows in Afganistan would have peace in their families. Why can't we just learn a mutual respect for eachother, and create love, no war?Getting back to the main point, we all know that an organization, so multifacested and violent, cannot opertate without a leader. The name so commonly on our lips, enraging our hearts, is Osama bin Laden. He leads the masses of violence and war, all ultimatly, in the name of his God. He allows and orders death and destruction, yet still believes that his heart is of purity, that Allah favors him as a hero. People have taken pledges of loyalty to the man that ordered the destruction of innocent lives, and though we search, we cannot find him. We cannot find and justly punish the man that has bruised our nation so dearly...
Along with the attacks of 9-11, that my classmates will explain in more detail, Al- Qeada has aimed other attacks upon us, such as the U.S. embassy bombings in East Africa, in their quest to cleanse non muslims from muslim lands, with as much carnage and dismay that is possible. This phase in destruciton, in disregard for life, is referred to as Global Jihad, a quest still popular and ongoing within Al-Qaeda and groups like it. They utilize the insane and heartless techniques of suicide attacks, and multiple bombings of differant areas....Is all the blood shed worth it?Its these groups, the ones who cannot find contentment within themselves, but must try to control and ruin the lives of others, that keep us so far from peace. Its the radical forms of filth and evil that make it so hard for us to just grow up and be civil, to promote the peace that we, as a humanity, so desperately need.
