Today in US History, we again went over our oral tests and some of the students began taking their tests. The rest of us began reading our sections and starting our projects. I have Chapter 7 Section 1. It is about "The New Immigrants".I knew that people from England, Germany, Poland, Italy, and other countries from Europe immigrated to the United States, but I did not know that Chinese and Japanese emigrants came to the US. All the immigrants had it bad in the US. Our country favorited the natives and treated the immigrants poorly by not hiring them for work or giving them health care that was unnecessary for the admition to the US. The Chinese had it the worst by far in my opinion. They were forced to do extra, low paid labor that the natives did not want to do. Some anti- Chinese groups were started and they tried to drive the Chinese, and sometimes Japanese, people out of the US. President Theodore Roosevelt put a stop to the cruelty for a while.
