Talked about 9-11 and the al-Qaeda. 9-11, as in September 11th, 2001, was when two planes purposefully flew into the Twin Towers (as we all know), by work of the al-Qaeda. This happened when I was in first grade, and all I remember of it was that something really really bad had happened, but the teachers wouldn't tell us what; I found out when I got home. But anyway, 9-11 was a huge tragedy, where about 3,000 people died. 9-11 was probably the biggest reason we went to war with Afghanistan, since everyone was angry and sad and wanted the government to do something about it.The al-Qaeda is a group led by Osama bin Laden, founded in 1988, bent on forcing the world to go through jihad, or "struggling in the way of God". They have no problem with the of bystanders when in a "holy war" as they call it. Therefore, things such as 9-11 are seen as good by them (which, of course, it ISN'T). They are basically Afghanistan's government, they want the U.S. to stop interfering and get out of their country, and they want Israel wiped off the face of the earth. Basically.
