We started talking about 9/11 today.9/11--There were 19 hijackers hijacked commercial planes. Two of the planes went into the twin towers. The 1st plane went into the north tower and the 2 plane went into the south tower. Many people died after 9/11 because of 9/11. The ashes of the buildings smoked for 99 days and it took 8 1/2 months to clean it up. There were like homes or people living in the towers. There was like a hotel in the towers. 3,000 people died over all and 2,000 people died in New York. There were conspiracy theories that bombs were planted in the buildings because explosions happened a few minutes after the planes hit. There were 200 firefighter groups that went to the twin towers. After a while they sent a message to the firefighters but some of them didn't get it and they died in the towers.Pentagon--125 people died in the Pentagon. It was dammaged in one area. Flight 93 was one of the planes and there main target was to hit the White House. The passengers of the plane started ramming the door of the cockpit. They got enought control to where the plane just crashed into a field instead of a building.President Bush was reading to students and he recieved the message and left. He didn't really go and stay in one place, they just kept flying him around. He gave a speech at ground zero. It was not a rehearsed speach and he just spoke from his heart. Because of this speech and going after afganastan Bush got a huge aproval rating.Taliban--They are an Islamic group of refugees, that started in 1994 in afganastan. In 1996 they started taking over more towns and stuff. Eventually they took over the entire government. The taliban leader is Mullah Muhammad Omar. The taliban was very strict against women. The had to be dressed from head to toe. If you could see their ankles they would be whipped and they couldn't wear make-up. Employment, sports, and education was not allowed for women. Men had to have beards and they couldn't trim them. They weren't allowed to take pictures or hang them up in their home.October 7th 2001 we invaded afganastan. There were no sports for a while because they didn't think it was right to do. They shut airports down for a long time. U.S wasn't allowing flights to come in.
