They wanted to make sure that he wasn't hit- it would've been a huge win for terrorists if anything happend to him, they didn't have contol over things quite yet

Grounded all planes, no more planes up (they'll shoot the planes down)

Good Bunker, safe, middle of country, great communication system

He didn't want to send the message to the terroists that they didn't win (in a bunker in the middle of country etc.)

We will recover, thoughts and prayers go out to family & workers, we will bring justice to these people-we're gonna go get these people

Closure, didn't jump up and down with happiness, gratitude that justice has been served
-1978 Soviet invades Afganastan. Soviet was our enemy, so in 1980's we help out a group(mujahideen( that fights communists in Afgan...this group then eventually become Al Quida (we gave them money and military supplies)

Manifest Destiny- USA had a God given right to control land west- from Atlantic to Pacific coasts & even some Canada.
Why did settlers/people move to the Great Plains/West?
MO River to Great Plains is the Great Plains. Moved west to become cattle ranchers- alot of money to be made, sheep herding, Homestead Act, hunting, trapping, adventure, mountain men, US Military - fight the Native Americans
Buffalo- Important bc; bedding (fur), used in bows, fat-soap, skull used in religious rituals, manuer used as fuel
Describe a cowboy's life.
Peaked between 1867-1880
Long Drive, the decline of open range caused the long drives to stop (bc fences were put up).. Long Drive would go mostly to Dodge City, Kansas. = lots of money being spent, drinking, gambling, fights, prostitution (vigilante), gunfights/duels
Describe the importance of the buffalo to Native Americans and how the buffalo were destroyed.
How did the US gov't deal with Native Americans in the mid to late 1800's? What were their policies?
