Texas War for Independence 
Texas was Mexican territory. Mexico encouraged Americans to move to Mexico. If you moved to Mexico: Had to convert to Roman Catholic, no slavery. Texans wanted to fight Mexico to get independence. Won and became independent country and then, within 5 years, US made Texas part of the US.
