Monday- Mr Bruns went over Rules and Expecations today.

Tuesday- We presented our projects taht affected americas history

  • US Constution (1789)
  • Westward Expansion 1800's
  • Texas War for IND Mexican/American War

  • Came across the land bridge, Native americans, up to 23,000 thousand years ago
  • Lied, stole, cheated to get Native Americans land and resources
  • Killed off the Buffalo
  • Indian Removal Act- Trail of Tears (1830's-1840"s)
  • Civilize and Christianize
  • Waged war
  • Christopher Columbus, sailed for Spain,

  • The French and Indian War, 1754-1763, The colonists vs Great Britain, after the war was over Great Britain was in massive debt, so they started enforcing taxes. The colonists didn't like it. No Taxation without Represenataion,

  • The Proclamtion of 1763- Britain drew a line and can't go pass that line
  • The Boston Massacre 1770- Great Britain killes some Boston residents and caused tension.
  • The Intolerable Acts 1774- Acts passed by great britain in response of the Boston Tea Party, closed down boston harbor, until they paid the lost tea, took away charder of masschussets, British troops could force soilders into homes, If british soilders do anything bad can be sent back.
  •  A snake was a symbol back then in that era, wanted them to be fare, anti goverment

  • Weaknesses of Articles of Confederation
  • Taxation, trade and commerce, no national miliatary, one vote per state, unamanious vote to change, no national courts, no excutive branch
  • Legislative Branch
  • 2 senators for each state
  • House of Representatives, based on population
  • Senators serve for six years and reps serve for two years
  • Important Powers
  • Make Laws, Set Taxes, Declare war, override vetos, borrow money, regulate international and national trade and print money
  • Executive Branch
  • President and Vice President have 4 year terms
  • Qualifications, 35 years old, 14 year resident, natural born citizen
  • Elected by the electoral college
  • Important Powers, Commander in Chief, grant pardons, make treaties, appoint federal officers, ensure laws are excucted
  • Judicial Branch
  • Supreme Court judges serve for life unless impeached
  • Judical power rests with the US supreme court

  • Decides cases of constution law and fedral law
  • cases that inv.olve ambassadors go straight to supreme court
  • Friday- We started class over rules about notes and how Mr Bruns might just look at notes randomly. We watch a video about what Labor Day is
  • Why did people move west?
  • West- it has changed over the years as our country as grown
  • Manifest Destiny- had a right to take over west/east coast of the country
  • What was the western boundary- mississipi river
  • Big areas of land, Louisiana Purchase
  • 1819- got florida from spain,
  • We made texas part of the united states, was called Republic of Texas
  • Oregon Territory got from Great Britain
  • Alaska Purchase from Russia (1867)
  • Got Hawaii in 1898
  • Lewis and Clark Expedition went up from St Louis to all the way to the Pacific Ocean
