The Origin of 'Ku Klux Klan' ---Let's face it. It's a weird name. It's like if you threw a baby at a wall and listened for the random gibberish it cried and whatever it was would be the new name of your terrorist group, it would say 'Ku Klux Klan'. They're a hideous group and another one of those political forces that make me ashamed to call myself 'White'.So, here are some thoughts on how they got their name..."The name "Ku Klux Klan" comes from the Greek word "kuklos" which means wheel, circle, or band and the word "clan", which means family." So all in all... band of brothers.Another source insisted that the name is a combination of sounds from the cocking and firing of a bolt-action rifle:"Ku - the sound of lifting the boltKlux - the sound of pulling the bolt back and ejecting the spent cartridgeKlan - the sound of (in one motion) chambering a round by sliding the bolt forward and slapping the bolt down to cock and lock the rifle. "
And now for the grand finale... Danielle's Ideas for Improvement of USH::♥ More Individual Stuff.Sure, I love my Kels and Pape Dawg, and I've got a pretty decent group. But what about those people who have less-than-awesome groups? What about there wants? Eh? What about their grades? Maybe occasionally having some individual tests and projects wouldn't hurt.♥ Choices For Projects. One size does NOT fit all Mr. Bruns. I think letting people choose how they'd like to give their presentation would make EVERYONE happy. Think about it... I'm sure YOU get bored listening to the same Powerpoint, Voicethread, or Skit hour after hour. Just let people choose what they want to do! There'd be some variety in what you get to see, and people can't complain about what they're doing because - hey! - they chose it.♥ Extra Credit For The Message Boards.Admit it, the boards have DIED since it was no longer an oppurtunity for extra credit. Even I, Danielley, a cumme laude member, no longer get on. Why? I'm barely home as it is, and it's not going to affect my grade if I get on there or not, and there might be what? two other people on there at the same time IF i'm lucky? Why would I want to? You don't have to offer as many points for it, but making it worth something obviously made it successful last year.
Comments
and you're welcome mr. bruns! :D
Thanks!
Choices--patience--the first quarter (and some of the second) is all about showing students different options for presenting. I am a big believer in allowing students a choice in how they do something. This will happen 100%.
Extra Credit for message boards--I consider the message board dying a huge travesty this year. Five points for every hundred seems reasonable, but some people will just keep going. And then there was the whole Andrew fiasco from last semester. That is what really turned me off to the extra credit thing for posting.
What about a limit of thirty bonus points a quarter(not including ITED extra credit)??
It was also a big pain for me to count posts(it took awhile). The old board did count posts where this one did not. I would only use this one now as it is built in.
Can you think of a way that students could keep track so it would be easier for me?
You spelled "their" wrong!!!
"What about there wants?"
