This morning, I woke up to the news that a US citizen had been killed in China by a crazed Chinese person. The killer then jumped from the Chinese landmark to his death. http://www.kare11.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=521386&catid=2http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/asiapcf/08/09/olympics.murder/index.html I was thinking that this was the worst way to start the Olympics out after such an outstanding opening ceremony last night. China has around 1.2 billion people. Never in my wildest dreams would I anticipate that I knew the person that was killed and injured, Todd Bachman and his wife, Barb. My wife and I went to Wartburg College where one of Molly's roomates was Sara Bachman. I, on several occasions, met her mom and dad, who just happens to be the CEO of the Bachman Floral in Minneappolis. We actually have there home address and telephone number in our address book. I remember in college that Sara's sister was an excellent volleyball player and had a free ride to play in college. She was also a member of the 2004 Olympic Volleyball team. She is now married to the men's head coach of the Olympic volleyball team. That is why the family was over there. He was a very nice person and my condolences go out to his entire family.
