The battle of Leyte Gulf was one of the major naval battles and it happened in the Philippines. We demolished the japs navy and we won. MacArthur was a cocky man. Iwo Jima was where many of the japs were dug into the island so bombing was nearly worthless. We lost 7000 people at Iwo Jima. Okinawa was a big battle. Everybody thought that we would have to invade Japan. We tested the atomic bomb in the summer of 45. The B-29 was the plane that dropped the atomic bombs. Little boy was dropped on Hiroshima. Fat Man was dropped on Nagasaki. It was a Plutonium bomb. Stalin lied a lot. The Yalta Conference Compromise was at the end of the war. The GI bill of rights was aimed to help the veterans and give them money.
