Island Hoping is going from one island to the next.
Kamikazes became even more important. They are pilots on airplanes filled with explosives that would fly into ships and kill many people, the pilot and blow up the ship it kamikazed. The Battle of Leyte Gulf was the process of the US retaking the Philippines. The Japanese navy was extremely crippled after this battle. MacArthur’s return to the Philippines was on September 15, 1944. MacArthur’s return was him wading onto the shore. He is ridiculous. He is funny man though. The famous Battle of Iwo Jima was the Japanese were dug into the mountains and the ONE SINGLE VOLCANO on the island. It was an amphibious invasion and we were sitting ducks when he got close the island. The reason this battle was so famous now because of the Flag raising on the top of Mount Sirobachi I do not know how to spell. Raising the Flag in Okinawa was good. Now looking WWII would be over in about the summer of 1945. Nobody knew that US was going to make an Atomic Bomb. It goes BOOM hahahahahaha and kills many people. Alamogordo, New Mexico was where we tested the Atomic Bomb in July of 1945. The first Atomic devise went off on this day. They explained it to the press as an explosion of an ammunition dump. They call it the Trinity Site. The tower was where they dropped the Atomic Bomb. The Radiation was terrible in the first couple days. Enola Gay was the planes that were B29 Bombers that would drop the Atomic Bombs. The Pilots that were going to drop the Atomic Bomb were treated as ROYALTY. Paul Tibbits was the Pilot who dropped the Atomic Bomb. There was a list of cities that could be dropped on. Hiroshima was picked out of this list. Little Boy was the uranium bomb dropped on Hiroshima. Little Boy caused MASSIVE damage for miles around the dropping site. The Atomic Shadow was people that became completely discinisrated. Because the heat was so many peoples shadows were burned into the ground. In seconds you would be dead if you were really close to the explosion. Radiation sickness was cancer caused by the explosion of the uranium bomb. The second was a Plutonium Bomb called Fat Man. It was dropped out of the Bockscar B29 bomber. The dropped this bomb on Nagasaki it was not a good drop the pilots got in a lot of trouble for not dropping the bomb in the right spot. The Yalta Conference was in four parts. Germany was broken up into 4 zones. Stalin promised free elections in Eastern Europe. Stalin promise to join the war against Japan after Germany was defeated. Have another conference in San Francisco to set up the United Nations. The Nuremberg trails were Nazi officials who were put in court for the Holocaust. The GI Bill of Rights was to help members of the Armed Forces to adjust to civilian life. This was the US way of helping the soldiers who fought in the war and to help them with their killing people and the things they saw in the war. Everyone was changes because of the war. The Japanese Internment camps were used to keep Japanese Americans from helping out Japan in the war. We thought they were sent here to give the Japanese inside information. They were not but they had to do things they were told. This was terrible because we did not trust them after they attacked us in WWII at Pearl Harbor.
