Today we did our Pearl harbor blog talk. Japanese attacked us so the US Pacific Fleet wouldnt have an influence on the war. They wanted to trade with us and get oil and stuff and we said we would if they pulled out of Indochina and China and they didnt want to pull out of china so they thought the only way they could get us to trade with them again would be to attack us. After this 16 metals of honor were givin out. Japan only lost sixyfive men. They at first had three waves but they thought after two waves that they got us good enough and did enough damage so they sent the other wave back home. Historians said they could have done a lot of damage if they would have carried through with the third wave. They missed a lot of stuff they wanted to hit, things that were important. It may have been a whole different story if they would have sent the third wave. They misse a lot of shore side factories and other things. We didnt think they could pull it off because we were racist. We thought tey were completely blind. The water was really shallow and there was a huge distance betweent them in pearl harbor. They would have to have radio silence for at least a week or more. Because of the shallow water the torpedoes they dropped would hit the bottom but the Japanese fixed that problem by putting wooden fins on the torpedoes so they would level out quicker and hit the target they were supposed to. the main reason they attacked us is because we stopped trading with them because they invaded french indochina. We recieved their messages or intercepted them and we knew they were planning an attack but we didnt know when or where. they believed it was going to happen somewhere in Guam or the Phillipines. Nobody expected it to come in Pearl Harbor. THey had to travel over 3,500 miled undetected to make this a good surprise attack. During this time they had to have complete radio silence and have to remain unseen. They were traveling in vast open pacific waters. We said we wouldnt trade with them until they withdrew from china and indochina. They said that if we didnt agree with them by november 29th things would automatically happen which means they were going to plan an attack and carry it out.
