Today was Blog Discussion day.
Nick and I watched the movie Enemy at the Gates. It was about two snipers, one German, one Russian. They are against each other and use the same source to get information over each over for about a year. The Russian sniper kills the German sniper at the very end with a shot tot the German snipers left eye.
Ben and Zach watched Defiance. There are four brothers and they are Jews, they try and escape the Germans by running, they kept other Jews safe also. Many people got sick at the camp in the woods. They people joined the Soviet Union to think that they would be safer with them. Many died from trying to escape the Germans.
Ashley watched Pearl Harbor. I think we all know the story of Pearl Harbor so I’m not going to worry about explaining it. Doolittle’s raid was played out in Pearl Harbor. The United States got revenge on Japan for bombing Pearl Harbor.
Zach K. watched Saving Private Ryan. This movie is about one of four brothers that fought in World War II. Here of the brothers died and Ryan was the only one who lived. The brothers were all army paratroopers. The men who saved private Ryan thought that it was dumb that they were trying to save his life, putting their lives in fate to save his, but they were on complete command to save him so his mother had one of four boys alive.
Erin and Jenna watched the Boy in the Striped Pajamas. It is about a family of German people, during WW II, while the Holocaust was going on. The father ran a concentration camp and he told his family that is was a labor camp and a farm. He told them that is was not a bad thing. They play chess through the fence, and they had a servant and the boy get in trouble for talking. Bruno, the young German boy, was not aware that it was a concentration camp, and they took a shower together, and it was a gas shower and he dies there. His father is crying and they die.
Nate read a book called Night. It was about a man who says that the Nazi’s are killing Jews and then they crowded in cars. They thought that everyone was crazy and they go on a march starting with 100 people, ended with 12.
April watched Schindler’s List. It was a bout a man who set up a factory, and he said that if the Jews are working and not in concentration camps. He thought that if he befriended the Germans in the concentration camps, it was in Black and white and this was really special. This movie was very awesome and only certain parts were in color. April almost cried.
