Today we talked about the treaty of Versailles. Mr. Bruns showed us a slide show about it. France was the most mad because they had been invaded by Germany twice in not very many years and they were not happy so they wanted Germany to pay. I didn’t know that Germany was split into east and West Germany until 1991. The Big four were the U.S., France, Italy, and GB. Germany lost 12.5 percent of their land. France and GB took some African colonies. Russia got a lot smaller because they dropped out and the year they dropped out we went into the war. Austria asked to be with Germany at the end of world war one and they were Germans anyway but no one would let them go, but Hitler took Austria anyway with out war. Germany was only allowed 100,000 men, no ships, no air force. France wanted Germany to be so weak but Germany sent pilots to Russia to train. Germany owed Allied countries 33 billion dollars and to this day its around 400 billion. The League of nations is like a world wide peace organization. We did not join because they could tell us when to go to war and we only wanna go to war when we think we need to go to war. .
