How did the Treaty of Versailles impact Austraillia. ?

What types of government did this country have in the interwar years. ( 1919-1938)

How did their leader that led them throughout WWll, come to power?

Really they had no good leaders because they had five.

During the war period, There was five australian prime ministers - Robert Menzies, Arthur Fadden, John Curtin, Frank Forde and Ben Chifley.

Prime Minister Robert Menzies
26 April 1939 to 28 August 1941.

Longest serving prime minister was elected again in 1949. served 17 years. Prevented communist threat from reaching austraila.

Prime Minister Arthur Fadden
29 August to 7 October 1941, was voted out b/c collapsed government.

Prime Minister John Curtin
7 October 1941 - 5 July 1945, Curtin died on 5 July 1945, six weeks before the end of the War in the Pacific.
In January 1942, facing Japanese attacks, he wrote in a historic New Year message that Australia looked to the US for its security, rather than the UK. Curtin also formed a close working relationship with General MacArthur and directed the Australian military to follow MacArthur's orders as if they were his own. Curtin had several disagreements over defense policy with British Prime Minister Winston Churchill

Prime Minister Francis Forde
6 July 1945 to 13 July 1945 , Frank Forde was Prime Minister for only eight days, the shortest term for any Australian prime minister.
He had served as acting Prime Minister during periods when Curtin was out of the country or unwell during 1944 and 1945.[5]

Prime Minister Ben Chifley
13 July 1945 to 19 December 1949, Chifley was sworn in as Prime Minister on 13 July 1945, leading the nation for the final weeks of the war.

`

How did this leader change their country ( for better or worse) prior to WWll.
