Today in our history class we started by doing our blog talks.
First tara went and she talked about Rosa Parks. She wasnt completely African American. Her parents separated when she was younger and she moved to somewhere by montgomerey. She took her seat on a bus in the beginning of the black section and they stopped somewhere else and white people got on and needed seats and white people were trying to get seats and she wouldnt move. just moved to the window seat so they had to call the cops on her. This started the montgomerey bus boycott.
Then Ben started telling us about MLK. He went to hooker T highschool. skipped his fourth year of high school to go to college because he was really smart. Then he went to boston university and recieved his doctor philosophy. Then he was part of the civil rights movement. He was assassinated in Memphis.
Then zach talked about black history month. It was first called negro history week. Celebrated in the UK in october. Celebrated it here on February. Lincoln signed the 13th amendment whichh abolished slavery. Jackie Robinson was the first african american to play MLB. Got rookie of the year. He was pretty good. Born january first in 1919. went to highschool in georgia. He was really good at sports basically. stud. after college career he enlisted in the military in an all black cavelery. died of a heartattack eventually. Before he went pro in baseball he played in the negro leagues.
Then kaylee talked about the watts riots. or something. a white cop pulled overr a black drunk driver and impounded his car and put him in jail and people were yelling at the cop and throwing stuff at him. Thiss was in a black community.
Then riley talked about colin powel. Became first black secretary of state. was in the military for a while and eventually became a major.
thurgood was a lawyer. Couldnt get into a law school because they kept denying him because he was black. First major court case was in 1933 which he won. because he is a stud. then he sued a college because they deenied him cause he was black and he won. then eventually he was nominated for supreme court. in 1967 he got on the the supreme court. Firstt black there.
Then austin talked about the NAACP. national association advanscment of colored people. helped black people sue people that werre bad to themm and he won a lot of his cases. was also the president of the association. He was a white person.His namee was Morfield story.
Then Kloewer talked about Hrriet Tubmen. She was most know for the underground railroad which rescued slaves. She got hit in thee head by a two pound weight so this caused her to pass out at different times.
