Franklin Roosevelt married Eleanor Roosevelt. THey had 6 children. FDR had an affair with Eleanor's secratary and other women. Eleanor offered him a divorce but he declined for his image.Roosevelt was known as one of the most succesful presidents ever. Roosevelt also had a disease called polio. It made him handicapped and he was aided by a wheelchair. Sometimes he would stand at conferences but was aided by one of his sons. Roosevelt died on March 29th, 1945 due to a cerebal hemmorage.The Civilian Conservation Corps. was designed to help the unemployment of the Great Depression. It was succesful and was considered one of the best New Deal programs, It was not meant to be permanent though, so thery stopped paying for it in 1942.The Farm Security Administration was created in 1937. It was designed to improve the lifestyles of sharecroppers, tennants, and poor landing owning farmers effected by the dust bowl. It brought the farmers together so they could work on large farms owned by the government with new techinques. It is still around now but has been named the Farmers Home Administration. It is mostly famous for pictures taken during the time that showed what rural poverty was like.Federal Emergency Act was one of the first laws passed that helped us get out of the depression. It gave money to the states and they distrubeted it out in various ways. Some ways were such as food and clothes, work, cash outlays and more. It gave out $3 billion over two years.The Federal Housing Administration helped people buy homes for lesser cost to them.Emergency Bank Relief Act was also known as the Bank Holiday, and closed the banls. 5,000 banks passed. 100% deposit insurance was provided and the voting was quick. It regulated Secretary of the treasury and it allowed the president to declare a national emergency. It changed Bank actions during national emergencies. It provided Fedreral Reserve Loans. It was only a temporary fix.Social Security Administration Act. It helped olderly people, disabled people, and retired people and it changed how people are ensured to be US citizens. It tried to help prevent disaster in American Life. Roosevelt was teh 1st to advocate the Protection of teh elderly. It provided benefits to retirees and the unemployed.
