• 1950-1953 Korean War took place (never declared war) 
• People tend to forget about it because it was in between WWII and Vietnam 
• The border between North and South is known as the DMZ
• After WWII, Korea was split into two parts North(USSR) and South(US).
• An election was going to be held to eventually unify Korea
• United Nations held an election 
• Soviet UNion refused to allow participation in their occupided zone
• North gave power to Kim-IL-Sung
• The south elected Syngman Rhee 
• Summarizing the War
  • June 25th 1950- The North invades the South (with permission from USSR and China)
  • By September the North controlled almost the whole country except for the Pisan Perimeter (south east)
  • United Nations gets involved, We invade 2 different places. And we take back almost the whole country. It looks like we are going to unify the whole country. 
  • When we were getting close to China, they got scared and china invades. 
  • China quickly pushes us back down, But we push them back up a little bit. 
  • Fighting takes place at the DMZ
