today in history i worked on my chapter nine project. i learned about the YMCA, Social Gospel moverment, and settlement houses.Florence Kelly- 1859-1932-Born September 12th, 1895-Studied at Cornell University, University of Zurich-Moved to New York-Got married-Had three kids-Unsuccessful marriage ended-Moved to Chicago with children-joined Jane Addams, Ellen Gates Starr, and other social reformers at Hull House.-1899 helped establish National Consumer's League (NCL)-NCL- radical pressure group that wanted to maintain working hours and minimum wage for women and children-Became the first leader of the NCL-traveled the country explaining working conditions that occured in the U.S.-moved to the Henry Street Settlement in New York
