Nuclear Arms Race, was a race to gain more powerful nuclear weapons, was between the US and USSR and the Allys of each, many countries made nuclear weapons, the USSR were concerned with the weapons America was developing and we also were building nuclear bomb shelters, we had a system in place that if Nuclear weapons were used against us we would used back, and the same going for the USSR, the United states was the first country to use nuclear weapons, the Trinity was the first nuclear test, testing was done in New Mexico on July 16, 1945, the Bombings of Japan came soon after. Little Boy was dropped on Hiroshima and killed 90,000-166,000 people, Fat Man was dropped on Nagasaki, the Anti-Nuclear Movement was a social movement on disapprove of nuclear weapons and technology, the peace sign was originally a sign on a campaign on nuclear disarmament

Nixon Visited China in 1972, being the first president to visit china, went to China to help improve the relationship with China and to reduce trade restrictions, ended 25 years of isolating China, in 1960, the PRC split from USSR, One-China Policy was foreign government thinking the the PRC was the main government, countries wishing to having relations with China couldn't have relations with ROC,

Detente was used to ease the tension between the US and China and to get more trade with western Europe, used by the USSR, Salt1 was a treaty that helped reduce Ballistic missile launchers, but made Submarine ballistic Launchers. SALT1= Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty...

6. Students will understand the causes, effects and major events of the Vietnam Conflict.

7. Students will understand the causes and effects of the Persian Gulf Wars as well as the War on Terror.
