Stalin wanted to cut off access to Berlin and control the city. The blockade failed for the Soviets. Many tons of food and supplies were dropped to the people of Berlin. The Soviets were not going to shoot the planes down because they didn't want war. In May of 49 the Soviets ended the blockade of Berlin.
China
Many warlords fought battles because they wanted to be the leader of China. In 1925 Chiang Kai Shek became the nationalist leader of China. Chiang arrested and executed hundreds of communists. Mao started his own communism force. Both sides wanted to transform China into their own type of government. Communist party suffered after some of the battles and the Long March. KMT is the Nationalists and CCP is the communist party. The Second Sino-Japanese war was between the Republic of China and the Empire of Japan. KMT was forced to side with CCP because they were losing the war. The Japanese later surrendered in the largest war in Asia ever. Chiang tried to get rid of the CCP after the war with Japan. The CCP defeated the KMT.
