Berlin Blockade, capital city of Germany, divided up after WWII, blockade started June 24, 1948, and ended may 12, 1948. in the beginning of cold war, USA and USSR had different goals for Germany, was attempt by the USSR to block the Allied powers access to Berlin, failed for the Soviets, Stalin ordered the blockade, which led to the Berlin Airlift, Berlin was in the Soviet zone, the city being also divided up had a wall put up to block the sides, the Berlin airlift was the biggest humanitarian airlift ever taken, 2.3 million tons of supplies were flown into Berlin in about 10 months,NATO, when the Soviets became a threat western Europe didn't want to be communist, the US started bringing the countries in to talk, the Treaty of Brussels, in 1948, was an expansion of peace between Britain and France, Belgium Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, United Kingdom all signed the treaty, they wanted the US to, but we didn't, North Atlantic Treaty was signed by the same five as well as the US, Canada, Italy, Portugal, Denmark, Norway, and Iceland, this is the treaty that started NATO, gave military support for all signers, was a Defensive alliance, still around today, De-Stalinization
