Went over US map, then a few current events, and got back into foreign policy. US VIRGIN ISLANDS ASSIGNMENT- When did US get control, how did US get control do we still have control of it today, what is its current status, and location.
Notes-
Era of Imperialism- Late 1800's into early 1900's Countries went to Africa to get land and resources and were carving up the land as their own. by 1914 only 2 countries in Africa were controlled by the African people. The same thing happened to China, until we saved them.
Spanish-American War- A little over 400 American's dead, lasted 3 months, we got a lot of land from it, we won, called the "splendid war", what made us an EMPIRE. we too over Cuba(sorta), Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Philippe's.
WWI- 1914-1918, we were the deciding factor of the outcome in this, we only started fighting in 1918 with massive units. It was deciding factor in what countries would be taking over territories in Africa, middle east, etc... Centrals- Austria-hungry, Bulgaria, ottoman empire, and Germany are the people that we mainly fought.
