Korea was decided to be divided up at the PotsdamConference in July of 1945, of which U.S.A controlled South Korea after General Hodge arrived to accept the Japanesesurrender there, the USAMGIK refused to acknowledge the government alreadyestablished due to it being communist. Korea in whole was joint controlled by the US and USSR, which was agreed on at the Moscow Conference of 1945which stated that a government was to be established similar to the owner'sideology after a five year period. All of which was done without talking to theKoreans knowledge, and the South Koreans revolting in 1945. Of which theUSAMGIK banned strikes soon afterwards. But on 1 October 1946, Korean police killed three students, of which manyprotesters killed cops, in the end killing 38 officers, and ending with 10,000people rushing a police station on October 3 and three cops died. Afterwardsthe USAMGIK declared martial law. Eventually Representative Democratic Council(lead by Syngman Rhee, who would later become the leader of South Korea afterthe failure of unification of Korea) protested against the trustee ship ofUS-Soviet rule, saying after 35 years of Japanese occupation they didn’t wantanother foreign power in control, of which the US agreed, and on 31 March 1948the UN elected a anti-communist government for South Korea, of which the USSRdemanded that the US honor our agreement of the joint control. Syngman Rhee wasin charge of Republic of SouthKorea,and Kim Il Sung was in charge of Communist North Korea.
