D-Day
D-Day aka Operation Overlord. The invasion was the largest amphibious landing ever. Largest airborne assault ever. Germany had many mines on the beaches and machine guns in bunkers. The U.S. had trouble getting across the English Channel. The allies had a very small chance at winning, because Germany had protected the beaches so well. The Battle of the Bulge was Hitler's last chance from preventing the Allies from entering Germany. Divide and Conquer was Germany's strategy. Only about 1000 Jews survived the concentration camps. The war ended on May 7, 1945. Germany surrendered at Reims.
