Philippine Campaign
The Americans and Filipinos were taken as slaves and forced to march. U.S. entered Manila in 1945 . They took over the city. The Japanese first took over the Philippines, General MacArthur was one of the main guys during these battles. Battle of Coral Sea was a battle over land. The Americans were victorious. The Japanese wanted to stop some of the trading routes.
The bombing of Nagasaki was in 1945. About 30 people that survived Hiroshima that fled to Nagasaki just in time to get bombed. 75,000 Japanese died.
Australia's Role
Japan was trying to take over Australia. Half of Japanese merchant ships were destroyed by submarines.
Iwo Jima
US captured Iwo Jima. Bunkers caused many additionall casualties.
