the war triggered one of the biggest nigrations in history. over 1,000,000 migrants moved to CA from 1941 to 1944. Towns and defense induxstires doubled or even tripled.
Wives had a hard time taking care of the children because of work, so the kids stayed with neighbors. In 1944, Congress passed the GI Bill Of Rights. It provided education and training to the veterans who went off to war and didnt get all the education they could have gotten. about 7.8 million veterans attended colleges, the was completely payed by the government.
In 1943 there was a big zoot-suit riot. the zoot-suit ws worn by most Mexican Americans at the time, The riot had started when 11 sailors were attacked by Mexicans wearing zoot suits. Mobs poured into Mexican areas and grabbed every zoot suit wearing man, rip off the zoot suits and beat them to death.
Taxes rose during the war. Everyone agreed on the need for high taxes to pay for the war. By 1944 nearly every employed person was payinf federal income taxes. Taxes were used to pay for factories.
Marriage and motherhood came back. The birth rate shot up in 1941. Then paused in 1944 to 1945. It continued to soar until peaking in the late 1950s. 76 million American children were born between 1945 and 1964.

We fought in Libya. We aslo fought in Egypt which is in Africa next to Libya. We also fought in Algeria and Tunisia and Morococo.
