Vietnam conflicts we started by deploying non-combat advisers to the south army. then we started to use special forces to complete special operations. used regular troops whose purpose was to be defensive only.use of regular troops for offensive combat. once troops were over we sent more for offence. Diem was the guy we supported in the south because he was anti communist. 1964 was election year Jonson didn't want to send troops to Vietnam. gulf of tonkin resolution it was a resolution for Jonson to wage war. general of the war was westmoreland said we only need 100,000 more troops to win. public faith was shattered when Vietnam had a offensive people thought the government was not telling the truth
