Korea War
- Korea was invaded by Japan from 1910 until 1945
- After WWII, Korea was split into two- North (USSR) and South (US) at the 38th parallel
- The Soviet Union refused to allow participation in the election in the occupied zone
- The North put Kim IL- Sung in charge
- The South elected a nationalist exile Syngman Rihee
- The Korean War was the first armed confrontation in the Korean War
- we bomb the daylights out of North Korea, not nuclear bombs
