Today we did more presentations.
Red scare=fear of communism taking over the united states
-senator Joe McCarthy=fueled the red scare, he gave a speech that stated he knew 3 people who were in gov that were communist, he had hearings and would question people in the government= he wanted people to rat other people(name names).Accused people without evidence.
-Ruined peoples careers=went after people who were communist, actors, directors(Walt Disney)
--supporters of McCarthy=republicans, catholics, conservative protestants, blue-collar workers, and Joseph(dad) and Robert Kennedy.
-John F. Kennedy=partier, womenizer
-McCarthy downfall= charged people in the army that they were communist, senate took away his power(couldn't investigate anymore)
We just got done with my group topic, the Berlin Wall
nov. 9, 1989=this is when the wall came down, it started when a couple of people decided to jsut try to go over the wall and the guards let them so word spread that the guards wouldn't do anything so everybody got together and started dancing on the wall and tearing it down.
