Starting in 1935 the U.S. began to send out neutrality acts because we wanted to stay out of war. We did not want to trade with countries in war because we would get sucked into war. Cash and Carry was you have to pay cash and you have to carry it back to your own ship. It was set up to help Great Britian.

Winston Churchill- becomes prime minister in 1940, wanted to be tough on Hitler.
Hitlers next targets were Belgium and Luxinburg. He wanted to capture all the way to Paris. It never worked and they had to fight a two sided war for like three years. They were going to attack France, so France thought they would just build a barrior. But that didn’t work because just like in World War One Germany just went through Belgium and went around. That battle only lasted about a month before the French surrendered. Hitler allowed the Vichy government to stay because it helped capture Jews. GB was the only country that hadn’t been captured. By September 15, 1940 Hitler hoped to capture GB. They wanted to destroy the air force, attack and destroy the navy, attack british troops. They never got the air force destroyed and Hitler had to push bombing to night time.
