Miracle of Dunkirk-- all British forces got pushed back towards Dunkirk.Hitler orderedd for his troops to halt till the tanks arrived. That gave British time to get out of Dunkirk.
France surrendered within a month. It is believed that France thought they were protected by the line so they didnt advance. Hitler was able to capture them because of this. Hitler finally got his revenge he had been seeking for 22 years.
The Free French underground was led by Charles De Gaulle. It led them to freedom from Hitler. Gaulle later became the leader of France.
The Nazi's goals in the battle of Britain:
Destroy the Royal Air Froce--- never succeeded
Attack and distroy British navy
Attack British Troops
The German Bomber did so poorly against the Air Force, they started bombing at night only.
Great Britain was heavily aided by the radar and Ultra, which was about deciphering German code so we knew what they were playing before hand and they didn;t know what we were up to.
The cash and carry system-- you had to go up and buy cash upfront and carry supplies back to your own ship.
Bases for Destroyers Pact-- US would give Great Britain old destroyers and in return they would give us 99 year leases on certain bases in the Western hemisphere by the US.
Most death camps were in Poland. The most notable is Auschwitz. There were no death camps in Germany, but there were concentration camps. This was because Hitler did not want the Germans to know what he was doing in these camps, knowing most of them would not approve of this. In the Death camps, the Jews were starved, The kids and parents were seperated. Hitler later built mass graves and burned the bodies trying to get rid of evidence.
