Today we continued the review powerpoint. We talked about how Germany failed in getting to Paris. At the same time they were trying to take Paris the were fight the Soviet Union on their other side so they had to split their troops up then they formed the non agression pact with the Soviet Union. We talked a little bit more about the Maginot line and how Germany just decided to go around it instead of trying to fight their way through it.We also talked a little bit more about the miracle of Dunkirk. Hitler wouldnt let the Germans that were surrounding the city attack until the Tanks took caught up. almost 200,000 troops lives were saved when the evacuated the country and some of them faught later on in the war. We went over a little bit a lot of the stuff that we covered yesterday like the Vichy government. Europe were under German Nazi control. Most of it anyway. Germany naever invaded Great Britain because they couldnt destroy their royal airforce. We listened to Winston Churchill's speech. Then we talked about how the US was neutral even after Great Britain was being bombed and almost all of Europe was taken over. American Stayed neutral for a while and used the cash and carry system. Where other countries would pay cash for trade and items then walk away. They wouldnt loan things cause they knew they wouldnt get payed. United states would give great britain old destroyers and they would give us 99 year leases on land and naval bases and stateions.
