The Demilitarized Area was about 50 miles on the boarder of France and Germany so that France did not have to worry about being invaded by Germany. The Treaty of Versailles added the League of Nations which is a Peace keeping organization that was set up to promote peace. Germany was angry that they had to pay 33 Billion dollars and had to take full responsibility for the War. Weimar Republic was the government that was set up in Germany after World War I. The Weimar Republic was Hitler’s way of convincing the German people that the Weimar Republic was ruining Germany. Hitler got rid of the democracy and he made himself leader. The League of Nations was that the countries that were trying to keep peace. 2 weaknesses were that 1. The United States did not join even though it was the U.S.’s idea, and 2. The Washington Naval Conference came the 4, 5, and 9 power pacts. Great Britain, France, United States, Japan, China were part of the 5 power pact. These pacts reduced that build up of Navies. These countries reduced the size of the Navy that they could have. They reduced the number of Battleships that they could have, but most of them usually built up submarines and other ships besides Battleships, so this defeated the idea of the Washington Naval Conference. This kept the Chinese Open Door policy would keep it alive. China was also given independence. During the Interwar years, they tried to keep China with the Open Door Policy and keep Chinese independence. 20 million Soviets died in WW II. Adolf Hitler’s father beat him as a child. Hitler struggled in school; he was a trouble maker, which is why his father beat him. He failed out of Art school in Austria. He was a volunteer soldier for Germany in World War I. He found his place in Germany as part of the army. Mussolini and Hitler were friends. Hitler was big on himself and after World War I. He rose through that ranks in the Nazi party. By 1923, he tried to overthrow the German Gov’t and was thrown in Jail. Hitler wrote a book while he was in jail.
