Today we started with Bruns presentation on WWII. First he talked about Vladimir Lenin. He led the Soviet Union through the Bulshevik revolution. Then we talked a little bit about the Treatie of Versailles and what we would probably need to know about it for the test like some of the countries that were created by it. Throught the treatie of versialles Germany lost a lot of land over sea and to other countries. Germanies military was crippled. No airforce. No submarine fleat. Restricted military and naval military. Germany had to take full responsibility for the war. This was called the war guilt clause. A League of Nations was created. It was a world peace keeping organization.
Next we talked about the Weimar Republic in Germany. It was Germany's goverment before Hitler took over. This was set up after WWI. It was the reason for Germany signing the treatie of versailles. It was a type of government that was ran by Jews and communist. We talked about why the League of Nations failed. There were two main resons that it failed. The US wasnt a part of it and they couldnt declare war. There were other reasons it was weak but those are the two main reasons its failed. Benito Mussolini came to power in Italy because he was asked to. They wanted him to keep communism out of the country. The washington Naval conference. The nine power pact guaranteed Chinese independence.
Most questions that will probably be on the test next week will probably be the goals and strategies of the countries. G.B., France, US, Japan. Will need to know their goals in the war especially.
Then w talked about hitler how he was beat by his father then struggled in school. He failed out of art school. He originally wanted to be an artist. In WWI he was in the army and he felt that was where he belonged. He fought for Germany. He was gased twice so that is why he never used gas warfare in WWII.
