On December 7 1941 the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. This attack shocked the Americans. The Japanese bombed one of the United States biggest naval bases. The attack had two aerial attack waves. They bombed us because they wanted to keep us from getting involved with the Pacific Fleet of the war. It would help them get natural resources that they could not get. This caused the United States to get into the war. The attack caused 2,402 people to be killed. President Roosevelt said that it would be “a date which will live in infamy.”
This was a terrible thing that happened. My grandpa was supposed to be at Pearl Harbor at that time but he was getting married to my grandma in Iowa. This was a day that will be remembered forever.
