Today Mr. Bruns talked about Germany and China. We also found out again about our Big Blog Topic. Tara and Zach H. started their presentation over Great Britain.

Presentations: Great Britain

1. How did the Treaty of Versailles impact them? Great Britain felt as though that there should be an area in Germany that there is no Military Power and things are banned. Great Britain wanted the banning of military items in arts of Germany. They got money and African German colonies.
2. What type(s) of government did this country have in the interwar years (1919-1938)? Constitutional Monarchy is the type of government that Great Britain had during World War II. They have had this government for 300 years.
3. How did their leader, that led them throughout WWII, come to power? Winston Churchill was given the power after Neville Chamberlain resigned because Churchill said that they should have been stronger against Germany in the years before World War II. Chamberlain called the Munich Conference with Germany, or Hitler, France, and Italy along with Great Britain were at this conference. Hitler broke the conference rules by annexing Czechoslovakia and that broke the rules. Hitler broke it within a year. Hitler could only annex Sudetenland of Czechoslovakia but he annexed Czechoslovakia too. Chamberlain will go down in British History as being weak and spineless.
4. How did this leader change their country (for the better and worse) prior to WWII? Churchill was the most dominant figure in British Politics. He did not like the Nazism. He received much praise after the war. Chamberlain was trying to avoid war at all costs. Churchill wanted to go to war against Hitler in 1938. He wanted to defeat Germany and regain complete control of Great Britain.
5. What were the goals of the leader? Chamberlain impacted Great Britain with poor law and did not was to go to war. Chamberlain reorganized the unemployment assistance in Great Britain. Chamberlain wanted to avoid war at all costs. Churchill wanted to be tougher on Germany. He did not like the Munich Conference. When he came to power he worked extremely hard to get the United States involved in the war. He wanted to keep people motivated the people of Great Britain that they would never surrender.
6. What was the military strategy of this country in the inter-war years (1919-1938)? Britain’s Navy granted complete access to the world’s oceans. They blockaded German ports.
7. What role did they play in WWII? A main allied power in the fight against Germany. We used them to launch the D-Day invasion during WW II and they helped us out by being the main ally of the United States.
8. Who were their allies in WWII? Us, Soviet Union, France, Australia, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Greece, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, South Africa and Yugoslavia.
9. How did WWII impact/effect the country? They were bombed by the Germans daily and they put their debt on other countries. This had to live with maybe being bombed at me. Normal People said that they were in a lot of fear. Germany first began bombing during the day, and the British Royal Air Force prevented them completely taking over Great Britain.
