Today we watched a video over World War II. This movie is about World War II, obviously. Today was also an early out day. On December 7, 1941, Japan attacked the United States at Pearl Harbor. This attack stunned the nation. On December 8, 1941, FDR asked Congress for a state of War. When Germany and Italy joined Japan, the United States had no choice but to join the Allies in World War II. Since the Untied States was the greatest oil export with Japan, Japan was severely crippled from the loss of oil. The arsenal of Democracy was the United States. Then they had to wage war against Germany, Italy, and Japan at all the same time. Mexico sent people to work in the United States for cheap labor and helped them harvest Million Bushels of beans. 40 Billion Bullets were made during World War II. Americans on the Home front were at best since the 1920’s. Rationing was set on critical items like meat, gas and other essential things. The students licked stamps to “lick” the Japanese in World War II. This made students feel as though they were helping in the War. Women trained the men who flew planes in World War II received the Congressional Medal of Honor yesterday March 10, 2010. During World War II, Big Gov’t became usual in the United States. 750,000 African Americans left their homes to try and join the war effort. Southern Blacks left and lost everything. Many Japanese Americans lost everything and tried to get the United States to see that had the honor and were not against the United States. Hitler began to cement his way in Europe. The allies renewed their right and overran Nazi concentration camps. The Japanese steamed toward the Midway the Japanese steamed toward the Midway Island. The 2 fleets never saw each other. The battle of Midway was the first war fought only by planes.
