Main Axis Powers- Germany, Italy, and Japan
Other Axis Powers- Slovak Republic, Bulgaria, Romania, Yugoslavia, Hungary, Croatia, Finland, Thailand, and Iraq.
Puppet Governments- Albania, Burma, Montenegro, Quisling, Norway, and Vichy France.
The Treaty of Versailles- The treaty that ended WWI. It put the blame mostly on Germany and had Germany pay for most of the war as well as suffer multiple military handicaps. Germany lost land to France, Belgium, Denmark, Czechoslovakia, and Poland after WWI. These are all countries that Hitler dominated in WWII. At the start of WWII, Hitler began to deny the military handicaps brought upon Germany through the Treaty. He built up the military to be stronger and built more airplanes and machinery of war. Germany had to admit full responsibility for the war.
A lot of people were angered by the Treaty of Versailles in Germany. They felt like they had no choice but to sign the treaty and that they didn't really have a choice.
Beginning of war- Hitler sends troops into Rhineland (a demilitarized zone) and is confident other countries won't stop him. Other countries did just this and decided it wasn't worth going to war over.

The president in Germany felt like they should keep an eye on Hitler and mold him to become an ideal German. He appointed Hitler Chancellor but then the president died, leaving no one in charge except for Hitler (to an extent). With Hitler not being looked after he turned the government into a dictatorship.
Hitler's background- His brother died in 1900 and Hitler became more withdrawn and moody. He was abused and had trouble in school because of it. His dad died in 1903 and his mom died in 1907. All of these deaths had a large impact on Hitler. When he gets out of high school, he tried to get into art school and failed twice. He sold paintings on the streets until he signed up for the military for the war. He failed his examination into the Austro-Hungarian army and then moved to Munich, Germany and joined the German army instead. During WWI he was injured twice during the war, once from a shell explosion and another time when he was blinded from a mustard gas attack. Henry Tandy almost shot and killed Hitler during the war but let him go instead. After WWI, he begged the government for a position, so they made him a spy to spy on the growing Nazi Party. After spying for a bit, he decided this is exactly what he liked and left the government and joined the group. Soon enough he was the propaganda president for the group. Nazi eventually tries to overthrow the government and have the Nazi group become in charge. He was put in jail for treason but wrote the book "Mein Kumpf" in prison.

Weapons of WWII-
The Churchill Crocodile- Flame throwing tank. Shot up to 80 yards away. Only 800 made.
M1 Garand- The standard weapon of the war. Known as "the gun that won the war"

Mk2 Hand Grenade- Pineapple Grenade- Basic weapon of war to take out a group of people.
PPSH 41- Soviet submachine gun. It could be used as a single fire gun as well as multi-fire.

The Churchill- British Tank. The heaviest of WWII with heavy protection but they were very slow
.45 Caliber- it was a standard issue pistol created by John Browning. They were used for short range.
P-40 Warhawk- They weren't the best fighter planes but a lot of them were built. They were a lot slower and less maneuverable.

Czechoslovakia was under threat of Germany, Germany threatened to take away their mines and mills: things important to the economy. France and Great Britain didn't really care and said that Czechoslovakia wasn't worth going to war over, so they let Germany have it. Germany and Czechoslovakia came to an agreement and Czechoslovakia let Germany have their land without war. After this, Hitler announced all he wanted was the German land lost during WWI, promising he wouldn't try to take over any more countries. France and Britain agreed, trying to prevent war. Winston Churchill opposed Appeasement for Germany. After Hitler took over Czechoslovakia, Great Britain and France decided if Hitler did anything else, they would go to war.
What drove Hitler into WWII?- Re-unite Germans outside of Germany, Make Germany strong again, Revenge from WWI, Racism, ethnic cleansing, Destroy Jewish Bolsheviks (Communist Soviet Union), Lebensraum (More living space for the German people and ONLY the German people), etc.
