Today in US History we watched a movie on the New Deal. The depression was very difficult for everyone. Money, food, water, clothes, work, ets, was very scarce and people had to make do with what they had. Farmer's started to sell crops for more. Roosevelt started the Federal Emergency Relief Act. It put people to work on building bridges, buildings, parks, schools, etc.
The Fireside chats made citizens feel like Roosevelt was talking directly to them and felt a sense of comfort from it,
Citizens also heard Eleanor Roosevelt on the radiio every once and a while. She was seen as a link between the president and women's rights. She started the "black Cabinet" and belived in equal rights. African Americans believed the NRA was removing the black's rights.
Roosevelt thought of making an anti lynching bill in the south but decide against it.
