Today for a while we got absolutely nothing accomplishedd then eventually we started the movie bruns wanted to show us because he couldnt get it to work right away. it talked about the great depression. wages rose and work hours went down. people thought life was good and they would always have prosperity. People didnt need a lot of money to buy a stock or a share.
It talked about rooseevelt first hundred days as president and the first part of the new deal. The first problem he faced was a banking problem. the economy situation was so bad people were using canadian money in michigan. In the threee short years following the stock market crash the production in all industries were cut in half. Farmers were producing so much that agricultural prices went into a tail spin. now farmers couldnt pay loans and stuff and had to move off their land. The dust bowl came around and covered houses and farm land in dust and many people died from dirt inhilation. farms were ruined and these people moved onto the streets. to help this THye made up the Federal Emergency relief act.During this time they put over 2,000,000 people to work building roads and building and cutting out trails in the wilderness and draining the swamps.
It then talked about fireside chats from roosevelt which he did through the radio. It made people feel like they were part of somehting bigger. they felt like the president was talking directily to them. People that went to movies about the dust bowl in new york and could kind of tell what it was like in kansas what they happened. They also saw movies of multiple other issues in the US. POeople also heard Roosevelts wife over the radio instead of just always him. The National Recovery administration aloud businesses do release blacks and hire more white people and set minimum wages and weekly hours.
