Monday-
German reaction of treaty of Versailles- Germans did not like it cause all it did was punish them. They blamed this on all of the problems that Germany won
Hitler- He was a troubled child and his father beat him. He did not succeed in getting into art school. To get money he would do art on the street and sell it. Both parents dead by age of 20. Named himself deader of Nazi party. He is thrown into prison and he speaks as his own lawyer. They gave him 5 years for treason because he was doing it for the betterment for his country. While he is in there he writes his book. Hitler was appointed chancellor. Germans take over a couple of countries with out war even breaking out. Hitler was given what he wanted and said he was done taking over areas.
Tuesday-
5 Countries Hitler take over- Belgium Luxembourger France Norway Denmark.
Magellan line- A wall that soldiers could live in and had guns posted on it to kill enemies.
Miracle of Dunkirk- Hitlers troops put the enemy troops back to Dunkirk. Hitler ordered his troops to stop and ended up thousands of troops got away and would later be used to help out in the war.
France surrenders June 1940.
Wednesday-
D Day- It had been delayed a couple of days. People went knowing they would be fired on and probably die.
Liberation of Paris- It took three months to get to Paris and take it back over.
Battle of the Bulge- We are knocking on Germany's door. Germany launched a major invasion. It did not work and was the biggest loss of lives of U.S.
May 8th 1945- V-E Day.
Holocaust- 6 Million Jews and 12 million people were killed. Genocide which is targeting a ethnic group. Hitler did not like Gypsies. Disabled people.
1933- What should we do with the Jews? He took away there rights and never gave them back. Jews lost jobs in the government and students were kicked out of school.
1935. Jews could only marry Jews. If you were a Jew you wore a star.
