So today bruns continued to go over WWI. This war was mainly just to get land. Because of Woodrow Wilson, the U.S. declared that they were neutral to the war. It only lasted for three years. Why we went to war1) U.S. very upset with both sides in war.-Great Britain and Germany were both stopping U.S ships-Eventually, U.S. drew closer to war and the Allies.WHY?-German sinking for British ships and killing of U.S. citizens.-Lusitania, Ariabic, Sussex.-Trade with England rose, Germany declined. The biggest reason is because Germany was sinking ships and killing Americans. They were killing innocent passengers. One on the more famous ship that got sunk was the Lusitania. The trade to England rose and we were economically tied to the war already. We wanted England to win cause we were giving them money.2) The Zimmerman Note.-was a coded telegram sent by the Foreign Secretary of the German Empire, Arthur Zimmerman, on January 16, 1917.-it was sent to the German ambassador in the U.S, Johann von Bernstofff, at the height of WWI.-it was interpreted by the newspaper and was printed. So, basically it was that Germany made an alliance with Mexico to fight America. The third reason was War Hawks and their beliefs. The fourth reason was that we traded with Great Britain more, which decreased the trade with Germany. There was British and American propaganda. Propaganda was like persuasive advertising which made people want to go to war. There was this program that got us ready for the war. American business kind of pushed us into war because they would get the governments money so they could make money. Then Germany declared unlimited submarine warfare, which basically meant that they were going to sink any American ship without warning.
