Today in CWI we finished watching the video Planet in Peril. Right when it started they were arresting some poachers. Then it talked about an American nun that was shot down because she stood up to people who were destroying forests. Then they talked about a tribe in the Amazon that are working to stop poachers and people who are destroying the rainforest. They talked about a young boy in Texas that was diagnosed with cancer. When his mom tried to find some answers she found out that it was because of a ship channel that was releasing hazardous toxins into the air. They said that poor people are the ones that have to put up with environmental issues.Then we talked about our Rwanda blog topics. We talked about what happened. It was the mass killing of Tutsis and maderate Hutus by the extremist Hutus. The Europeans came to Africa for resources and when them came to Rwanda they favored the Tutsis. They liked them more because they looked better and they were smarter. The Hutus came to power because they had the majority. They didn't like the Tutsis at all. The Hutus blamed the Tutsis for shooting down their presidents plane and killing him.
