Today we continued going over information on World War One. We talked about semester test information a little bit, but didn't get too in depth with it. Over There was a popular song in the time of WWI. Mr. Bruns has a beautiful voice and sang the song to us! Ten points... "There" is referring to France and Germany. We were fighting in France in the time of the song coming out, I think. The Treaty of Versailles, was the cause of all that was to coming. Inflation and WWI. The treaty ended WWI and started WW2. Some guy tried to undo everything the treaty had started. The Hall Of Mirrors is where they actually signed the Treaty. The four main countries were, not Russia, but US, Great Britian, France, and Italy.. Or the big three, excluded Italy. The change of the map of Europe was a big change that happened because of the treaty. New country of Poland, Finland, Checkoslavackia(sp), etc. Ugoslavia is now more like six or seven seperate countries. Poland really stands out.Wilson's 14 points... An end to secret treaties, freedom of the seas, free trade for all countries, disarmament, end to colonial claims, self-determination for all countries, restoration of belgium, restoration of france. Continuing.... readjustment of italy's boundaries, austria-hungary would be given opportunity for autonomous developement.. romania, serbia and montenegro should be evacuated and restored. Turkey should be sovereign, poland be given indepence, the "league of nations" would be developed. The Treaty of Vercailles was territorial. Alsace-Lorraine, Eupen and Malmedy, Northen Schleswig, Hultschin, West Prussia, Posen, and Upper Silesia, this was all the land that was taken away from Germany. The treaty had something to do with a military. "War Guilt Clause", many Germans dispized this. It felt like a slap to the face to alot of the people the lived in Germany.
